I’ll bet you’d like to work a four-day week. Three lie-ins over a long weekend, which will be every weekend. More time to meet friends or for family activities, or to indulge in your favourite hobby. The natural assumption is that working one day less per week would mean 20pc less productivity for the organisation you work for.
But guess what? A huge trial has been carried out, the largest of its kind, and the bottom line is that a four-day week brings major advantages to workers without affecting a company’s bottom line. If anything, the study showed an increase in overall productivity. Are we therefore about to enter the era of the four-day working week?
