SAS Australia is preparing to film a third season and it will feature 'everyday Australians'

They've barely wrapped filming on the second season of SAS Australia, and filming is already about to commence on season three.

But rather than featuring celebrities, the third season of the hit Channel Seven reality show is set to focus on 'everyday Australians'.

According to a report by TV Tonight on Monday, filming on season three will begin sometime this week.

Well-placed sources told the publication that filming would take place in the NSW Blue Mountains.

While the show will use the same base camp as season two, some of the locations and challenges will be changed.

Season three will be filmed over two weeks, making it more condensed than the show's previous seasons.

But it's expected to be just as gruelling, especially for the show's DS (directing staff), who will film back-to-back seasons.

Channel Seven is yet to confirm if the show's third season will air sometime this year or next year.

Meanwhile, a report by TV Blackbox in March revealed Channel Seven was keen to 'capitalise on [Ant Middleton's] availability in this country'.

The show's 40-year-old chief instructor was forced to undergo two weeks mandatory hotel quarantine in March, along with the show's other British directing staff, Jason Fox, Matthew Ollerton and Mark Billingham.

A casting call released in March advertised for 'everyday Aussies' to sign up for the challenging series.

'You've seen our Star Recruits on the #SASAustralia course, now it's your turn! Do you have what it takes to pass Selection?' it read.

Like season one, the second season of SAS Australia will also feature celebrity recruits.

The new line-up for the competition features a mixture of famous and controversial participants, including former rugby league footballer Sam Burgess, socialite Brynne Edelsten and TV chef Manu Feildel.

Tennis champion Alicia Molik, Home and Away's Dan Ewing, actress Bonnie Anderson and former politician Emma Husar are also set to compete on the show.
