Nicole Richie took to social media to share some of her childhood portraits with her mother Brenda Harvey-Richie on Monday.

While visiting home for the holidays, the reality star, 41, took a stroll down memory lane and posted some photos of herself as a child, ornate in gold frames, on Instagram.

Recently, she celebrated her younger sister Sofia Richie's upcoming nuptials to music executive Elliot Grainge at her bachelorette party two months ago in Paris. 

Next to a tree emoji, she wrote in her caption: 'Home for the holidays'.

While posing solo in front of a portrait of her younger self with her adopted mother, the fashion designer donned a low-cut black robe dress with flared sleeves.

To highlight the deep neckline - that also exposed her black bra with a pink bow - she accessorized with a bejeweled and gold necklace that fell at the perfect length.

She rocked a festive red manicure and adorned her wrists with diamond-encrusted tennis bracelets. 

She wore her blonde-highlighted hair in a half-up and half-down style with casual, natural waves at the bottom and a loose bun at the crown of her head.

In the portraits, she and her mother - who was married to singer-songwriter Lionel Richie, 73, from 1975 to 1993 - had matching voluminous and curly 80s hair.

She wore extravagant and elegant princess dresses in all of the framed pieces.

In one look, she and Harvey-Richie wore matching dresses featuring a bodice decorated with beading and lace. 

The musician and his first wife adopted Nicole when she was just nine years old. 

About three years before they divorced, they adopted Nicole in 1990.

'Nicole was actually a godsend,' Lionel told People in February. 'She was a little girl who needed a shot.'

Nicole is the biological daughter of his friends who were struggling financially.  

'She was used to people coming and going,' he said. 'She looked at me and I'd say, "I'm not going anywhere."'

Lionel and Brenda split a few years later due to rumors that she discovered his infidelity with stylist Diane Alexander, 55.

'Brenda and I went through a very interesting time,' Lionel added. 'We didn't agree on a lot of things, but we did agree on [Nicole]. 

In 1996, Lionel and Diane tied the knot and had two children - Miles, 28, and Sofia, 24 - before divorcing in 2004.

Currently, Lionel has been with longtime girlfriend - model Lisa Parigi, 33 - since 2014. 

Nicole married the lead vocalist of the pop-punk band Good Charlotte, Joel Madden, 43, in 2010.

Together, they share two children - Harlow, 14, and Sparrow, 13.
