Nick Kyrgios' girlfriend Costeen Hatzi says her tennis star boyfriend won't retire

Controversial tennis ace Nick Kyrgios isn't ready to retire, says his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi.

The 22-year-old influencer, told the Daily Telegraph on Thursday that her beau has 'a few years left' in him, despite his latest no-show at the Australian Open.

Kyrgios, 27, was forced to withdraw from the grand slam before his first match last week due to a knee injury.

'When I met him he wasn't sure how many years he had left on the tennis tour. But now because he had such an amazing year I think he has a few years left in him,' she said.

Costeen, who has dutifully attended Nick's matches and games since their relationship debut in December 201, said she believes Nick won't give up on the game.

'Hopefully he does have a few years left, because I love watching him play and so do so many other people so I don't think it's the end right now,' she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, the psychology graduate defended Nick's controversial on-court tantrums, saying his negative portrayal in the press is 'unfair'.

'He's the complete opposite off the court, he's so kind, he's so caring, he only kind of loses it on court because he's so passionate about the game and he wants to win and he has emotion,' she insisted.

Costeen's comments come after Nick, who is currently ranked No.21, recently he was thinking about hanging up his racquet for good.

'Hopefully I can win a slam and just retire,' he said last month, Wide World of Sports reported.

The fiery champ enjoyed his best year of tennis in 2022, with a magical run at Wimbledon earlier this year, reaching the grand slam final at the All England Tennis Club before being defeated by Novak Djokovic over four sets.

His superb form over the past 12 months has raised expectations that he will become the first male tennis player since Lleyton Hewitt to bring a grand slam back to Australia.
