He went through a 14-day mandatory hotel quarantine last July.
And Michael Klim left hotel quarantine for a second time on Wednesday, with the former Olympian, 43, seen leaving Sydney's Marriot hotel in Circular Quay with girlfriend Michelle Owen.
The couple looked visibly relieved upon exiting, with Michelle throwing her arms around Michael in a grateful embrace.
The Polish-born Australian swimmer looked casual in a black T-shirt paired with dark jeans and black leather Nike high top sneakers.
He wisely wore a face mask as the couple waited for their vehicle to pick them and their luggage up.
His DJ girlfriend meanwhile also went with head-to-toe black attire, pairing a dark T-shirt with comfortable black pants and sneakers.
She also put safety first, wearing a face mask.
The couple celebrated their one year anniversary last August
Klim appears to have traveled to Australia in anticipation of the opening of his swim school's newest location later this month.
The freestyle specialist announced that his Klim Swim school was opening a location at Wesley College in Prahran, Victoria, in an Instagram Story on Thursday.
Klim divides his time between Australia - where he has several business ventures - and Bali, where his ex-wife and children reside.
The athlete shares kids Stella, 14, Rocco, 11 and Frankie, eight with ex-wife Lindy Rama-Ellis.
But the back-and-forth has proven difficult amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
'Being stuck in Bali and not being able to travel while managing and motivating the team back in Sydney was tricky,' Klim told Daily Mail Australia last year.
'There were financial pressures and the business suffered, which forced us to be more innovative and reinvent ourselves.'
'The kids were holed at home as well, doing school via online learning. It's been a different way of life, making sure they were doing the tasks they had to do each day.'
'But they've really adapted and has since gone back to school. Rocco has tennis every day while Stella has dancing and surfing.'
