Fallen NRL star Jarryd Hayne has made a huge anti-vax statement on social media in which he appears to support tennis superstar Novak Djokovic's stance against the Covid-19 jab.
It comes just after Hayne learned he will be facing a third trial for alleged sexual assault on March 6 in Sydney.
Hayne, 34, took to Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a post from satirical page The Barbeque Bulletin.
The image features Djokovic and American business magnate Bill Gates, who attended the Australian Open final won by the Serbian.
It also had the accompanying caption 'Unvaccinated man wins Aus Open in front of man wanting to vaccinate entire planet.'
Hayne - whose personal vaccination status is unknown - added three fire emojis to the post, indicating his support for Djokovic, who has long refused to get the jab.
The former Parramatta Eels fullback isn't the only footy star who has voiced their opposition to Covid vaccinations.
Ex-St George Dragons controversy magnet Anthony Mundine has spoken out against the jab on more than one occasion, branding it a 'death wish', and ex-Bulldogs prop Luke Thompson reportedly refused to be vaccinated in 2021 before backflipping.
Hayne's trial next month will be the third surrounding allegations he sexually assaulted a woman on September 30, 2018.
Following three days of deliberations by a jury, Hayne was last year found guilty and sentenced to five years and nine months jail, with a non-parole period of three years and eight months.
The former Dally M winner was based at the Cooma Correctional Centre for nine months before the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal quashed his conviction and he was released.
A retrial was then ordered.
Hayne has consistently denied the allegations and maintained his innocence.
