Baffled Zara shoppers brand £19.99 'flower carrying bag' an 'influencers dream'

Zara shoppers have been left scratching their heads after the brand unveiled their 'flower carrying bag' priced at £19.99.

Fashion fans were baffled after discovering the bag - which is specifically designed only to transport a bunch of flowers, taking to social media to ask whether the accessory is an 'essential'.

After a picture of the item was posted on the 'Awkward Zara' Instagram account, shoppers quickly began to mock the bag - teasing other purposes for the accessory could include carrying a 'baguette, broken arm or injured animal'.

The post racked up 1,686 likes and over 200 comments, with users joking that they would only need to use the bag 'twice a year' when their partner 'buys them service station flowers'.

The hilarious Instagram account wrote: 'Zara’s latest drop is for your essential items only: flowers, tennis rackets, baguettes, injured swans.

'The £19.99 flower holder range raises some vital questions: would anyone actually hand over £19.99 for this?

'And does anyone actually buy flowers often enough to necessitate a dedicated bag?!'

Users quickly commented on the bag, with one writing: 'I buy flowers weekly but I am not carrying them in this, they are going home to be put in a vase not air lifted off a cliff.'

Another said: 'Going to buy one for my husband to carry my service station flowers home in twice a year.'

A third wrote: 'Oh wow! Just when you think they can’t be any more random', while another teased: 'This is a lifestyle Instagrammer’s spring/ summer DREAM.'

Other users speculated on what the accessory could be used for, with one suggesting: 'Essential for baguettes...yes I'm French'.

Another wrote: 'If I had reached a place in my life where I could have a pet duck, I’d buy one to carry said hypothetical pet duck.'

A third shopper joked: 'Could you fit a tantruming toddler in there? Asking for a friend.'

It's not the first time Zara's accessories range has raised eyebrows among its customers.

A few months ago, shoppers were confused by a £19.99 knitted jumper neck and sleeves, which they branded as a 'half-finished' turtleneck.

One bemused Twitter user wrote: 'That's perfect!!! Sometimes your arms are cold but you still want that CLEAVAGE!'
