Australian tennis champion Ash Barty has revealed the secret to her success on the court - and it all comes down to a roll of duct tape.

Barty shared a photo of her parents' renovations on her family home in Queensland with one brick wall seen covered in a strip of duct tape shaped into a net.

The world No.1 revealed she stuck the tape to the wall to make her 'first ever tennis court' to practice on as a kid not knowing she'd soon be winning titles on courts all over the world.

'Mum and Dad rediscovering my first ever tennis court while doing some home reno's,' she tweeted on Tuesday.

'Makeshift duct taped net is a little high... Would love to know how many hours I spent hitting balls against that brick wall.'

Barty's childhood practice sessions clearly paid off as she rose to be world No.1 in 2019 and won the French Open the same year.

Her latest victory against reigning French Open champ Iga Swiatek from Poland will see her face off in the quarter finals against Petra Kvitova.

'I love to play Petra. I do. She brings out the best in me… It's another challenge, another test,' Barty said.

'She's won this tournament multiple times, loves the conditions here. A fresh challenge for me.'

The Australian recently celebrated her 25th birthday in style by winning two titles and a $200,000 Porsche.

She took out both the doubles and singles titles at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

It was her first European tournament on clay since triumphing in the 2019 French Open and she looked in the sort of form to regain the trophy that she decided not to defend last year.

'There is a first for everything, isn't there?' Barty laughed after being asked if it was the first time she won a bright green Porsche and two titles at the same tournament.
