The girlfriend of Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy was apparently fondled by his father during the Wolverines' heart-breaking loss to TCU in the College Football Playoff semifinal on Saturday.

With McCarthy and the Wolverines attempting to mount a third-quarter comeback against the Horned Frogs, ESPN's cameras panned to the crowd, where his girlfriend, Katya Kuropas, was celebrating a Michigan touchdown.

It was then that JJ's father, Jim, appeared to drag his right hand across Kuropas' rear end as she hugged another joyous Wolverines fan. Jim McCarthy also appeared to bump his left hand across her backside as well before the ESPN cameras cut back to the on-field celebration.

Jim McCarthy has not responded to Daily Mail Online's emails seeking comment. 

'JJ McCarthy losing this game, only to get to the locker room to see his phone blowing up with videos of his dad touching his girlfriend is nightmarish stuff,' wrote a fan of the rival Ohio State Buckeyes on Twitter. 'Disgusting. An absolutely uncomfortable watch. I wanted to crawl out of my skin when I saw the replay.' 

As several fans noticed, Kuropas did have her phone in her back pocket when Jim McCarthy appeared to make contact with her backside.

'Imagine being JJ McCarthy's dad and risking it all just to get to slide your finger across an iPhone?' one fan wrote on Twitter.

Kuropas appeared to be sitting with several members of the McCarthy family, presumably because she's been dating the 19-year-old quarterback for several years.

JJ McCarthy described her as his 'high school sweetheart' on Instagram while commemorating their fourth anniversary on October 8.

'I can't believe it's been 4 years my lovey,' JJ wrote alongside pictures of the happy couple. 'High school sweetheart's (sic), but feels like I've known you since the play pen. Blessed and extremely grateful for your love and pure heart. Together, forever, whatever life brings.'

Jim McCarthy is a very visible member of the Wolverines fan base, with several supporters posting pictures of themselves with the football dad on social media before the game. He's a former collegiate football and baseball player, who now a printing logistics company, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Jim's wife, Megan, was once a competitive figure skater, and JJ was an avid hockey enthusiast in his youth according to the Chicago Tribune.

For his part, Jim said he enjoyed being a hockey dad, which should serve him well in the event of an icy reception back at home.
