BOYS BASKETBALL
Brendan Wilder and Steph Barnes each collected 18 points for No. 17 Waltham (19-4) in a 59-47 win over No. 32 Winchester (15-8), to advance to the Div. 1 quarterfinal.
Kayvaun Mulready led the way with 19 points, including 15 in the second half to secure a 69-67 victory for Worcester Academy over Cushing, to win the NEPSAC AA championship for the second consecutive season.
Justin Dadah Jr. collected 22 points while Terrance McCormack registered 17 as No. 22 Leominster (13-10) advanced to the Div. 2 quarterfinal with a 74-50 victory over No. 24 Norwood (18-5). … Max Jacobson scored 24 points, while Brendan Donegan added 17 points and eight rebounds as No. 29 Westwood (16-9) defeated No. 20 Walpole, 62-57.
St. Sebastian’s senior guard Trevor Mullin scored 25 points in his team’s 77-76 loss to Milton Academy in the NEPSAC Class A championship game Sunday, ending his career with 2,026 points, good for 71st on the state’s all-time scoring list. He was the second player to reach 2,000 points this year and the 8\\th in state history to accomplish the milestone. Salem Academy’s Cindy Shehu scored her 2,000th point last month and ended with 2,096 points, tied for 47th along with Colleen Hession of Williston-Northampton and Lenworth Williamson of Pingree.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
In the Div. 1 round of 16, Katie Peterson dropped 24 points for second-seeded Bishop Feehan (18-4) in a 69-61 victory over No. 15 Franklin (17-5). … Mary Gibbons tallied 29 points as No. 4 Wachusett (20-2) defeated Wellesley, 66-42.
Hialeah Turner-Foster scored 24 points as No. 8 Mashpee (19-5) ousted ninth-seeded Case 53-39 in a Div. 4 second-round contest.
BOYS HOCKEY
Ryan Davis scored twice as No. 6 Nantucket (15-6) defeated No. 11 Abington 6-2 in a Div. 4 second-round contest.
WRESTLING
A pair of Massachusetts wrestlers won national titles over the weekend at the 16U USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals in Omaha, Nebraska. Scituate’s Sara McLaughlin defeated Kyla Johnson of Indiana 6-5 in the 112-pound finals, while Malden’s Corynne McNulty knocked off Iowa’s Mackenzie Childers 9-7 in overtime to claim the 127-pound title. All-State champion Samantha Bertini of Ludlow placed sixth in the 100-pound weight class.
