Most kids are snacking on Cheez-Its or carrots when they go over to a friend's house.
But How I Met Your Father star Hilary Duff, 35, is plating up something a little more fancy for her 10-year-old son, Luca, and his pals: caviar.
'[My children] all like different things and they're all very picky. But Luca will live for caviar - if we're having friends over, I'll put potato chips out and some caviar and he's so excited,' she told Yahoo Life.
'So it's hard for me to come down on them. They won't eat cauliflower, but they love broccoli. They won't touch kiwi, but they love apples.'
Caviar is made up of cured roe from sturgeon, and how much you pay varies depending on which retailer or brand you source it from.
For example, an entry-level caviar that comes from wild American surgeon like The Caviar Co's Hackleback Caviar starts at $46 for an ounce.
Meanwhile, one of the most expensive caviars in the world, from the Beluga sturgeon, can retail for $830 per ounce.
Previously, Hilary has been seen shopping at Los Angeles' Absolute Caviar, where a two-ounce tin of its Sevruga Sturgeon Black Caviar Imperial starts from $100.
As most parents know, sometimes it can be hard to get your kids to eat what's on their plate, especially when they're a picky eater.
And Hilary is not immune to this parenting plight, revealing 'some days are tougher than others' when it comes to cooking for her three children, Luca, four-year-old Banks and one-year-old Mae.
She said her children were fans of pasta with olives and capers, chicken wings and roasted vegetables, adding that they loved 'salty things.'
'But then the second I try to put a little lemon zest on something, they're like, "That was different." Once, we were growing bok choy and Luca was like eating it raw out of the garden but then once I cooked it, it was a hard no for him,' Hilary said.
Hilary shares son Luca with former professional hockey player Mike Comrie.
The Canadian NHL star and Lizzie McGuire star wed in 2010 after three years of dating.
In February 2015, Duff filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable difference. The couple's divorce was finalized a year later.
She went on to tie the knot with singer-songwriter Matthew Koma, 35, in 2019 and they share daughters Mae and Banks.
In April 2021, Hilary told the Informed Pregnancy Podcast that she had wanted Luca to witness the at-home water birth of his sister, Mae.
'It was kind of important for me [for him to be there] because I'm really big on being open and honest with him about how strong women are and what childbirth looks like,' Hilary told Dr. Elliott Berlin the month following Mae's birth.
'He knows all about periods and it's important for me to normalize that conversation with him for all the women that are going to be in his life.
'He wanted to be there for it, but it happened so fast he missed it.'
The actress explained that she wanted to dispel the notion that women were inherently weaker than men.
'I think that sometimes a 9-year-old boy is like, "Well, men have bigger muscles," and, like, yeah, but we bring life into this world. We move a baby through our body,' she said.
