FEMAIL takes a look at the quirky, curious and mystical celebs born as Aquarius

The stars today mark the first day of Aquarius season - and astrology expert Inbaal Honigman says it's time to breathe a sigh of relief for the 'gentle and mindful' sign of the water bearer.

She told FEMAIL that the next few weeks offer a delightful comedown from the 'intense and very focused Capricorn season, which started a few days before Christmas'.

We can all now move past 'the challenging time of going back to work and starting a new fitness plan' - and look towards the open, curious and deeply intellectual constellation for some introspection.

And it's no wonder that those born under the sign are often some of the most celebrated thinkers and creatives of our time - including Ellen DeGeneres, Harry Styles and Oprah Winfrey.

Here, Inbaal tells FEMAIL everything we need to know about our favourite Aquarian celebrities - and what makes them so delightfully quirky.

'People born during Aquarius season are the activists of the zodiac,' she said. 'They'll stand at the front line to defend their communities, anyone who they see as oppressed or treated unjustly. They'll also fight for other communities.'

The celebrity psychic and astrologer praised the air sign 'trend setters' who are always 'committed to doing the right thing' - regardless of what happens to their reputation.

'They don't care if their actions make you uncomfortable,' she continued. 'The truth is the truth and they won't say that day is night, even if you paid them and promoted them.'

ELLEN DEGENERES

'There is no doubt that Ellen embodies the Aquarian archetype to perfection,' Inbaal said. 'When she was at the top of her career in the 90s, and had an eponymous sitcom, and her whole future ahead of her, she made it public knowledge that she was, in fact, a lesbian.'

The expert stresses that it's the 64-year-old comic's commitment to living her truth that makes her so emblematic of the water bearer.

'First, her character on the show came out as gay, aided by Oprah, another Aquarian, and then in real life,' she continued. 'Standing at the forefront of gay liberation was a very brave and very Aquarian decision.'

Calling the reaction to Ellen's coming out in 1997 'earth shattering', Inbaal stressed that there was little lesbian visibility in the public at the time - so being open about her identity was a huge risk.

'She was blacklisted in Hollywood and was unemployable for years. As she made her way into the public's hearts again, her eponymous chat show became well-loved.'

Inbaal also remarked on the talk show host's typically Aquarian response to bullying allegation on her programme's set.

'Ellen was not drawn into commenting on the accusations,' she explained. 'Aquarians believe that the truth will always come out.'

HARRY STYLES

Air signs like Aquarius are often revered for their freedom and refusal to adhere to any social norms and trends they disagree with.

And that rebelliously creative spirit is perfectly captured in Harry Styles, Inbaal says.

'He was the breakaway star of his band, One Direction,' she explained, crediting a part of his artistic success to a restlessly unique spirit.

The astrology expert also pointed out that Harry, 28, always made choices for himself, as could be seen in his 'quirky fashion sense' and 'love for dating ladies who weren't typically boyband girlfriends'.

'Aquarians only listen to their own inner voice,' she continued. 'And they don't care whether their decisions are popular or not.'

SHAKIRA

Inbaal praises Shakira's charitable nature and philanthropic work as being a trademark of this season's sign - often credited to be the humanitarian of the zodiac.

'Many celebrities support charities and advocate for sufferers, but Shakira is one of the few who actually put their hand in their pocket and donate from their own fortune,' she explained. 'She supports multiple charity causes and has given away literally millions of dollars over the years.

'This is very Aquarian, as they want to right the world's wrongs.'

Shakira, 45, is not only a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador, but had also founded her own humanitarian project as a teenager.

At only 18, the Colombian star set up The Pies Descalzos Foundation in Barranquilla.

Started up in the late 90s, the rising star felt pushed to create a foundation which would support children in the country with basic needs, such as education, nutrition and health.

Not to mention, it's likely that the star's Aquarian tendencies shone through when she  topped Spotify's Top 50 Global chart with the 'diss track' about her ex Gerard Pique and his new girlfriend.

Her bold and biting tune - in typical fashion for the independent minded air signs - has also accumulated an impressive 111 million views on YouTube for the song dubbed Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions 53 which was released in Spanish.

OPRAH WINFREY

Oprah Winfrey is one of the world's most renowned media personalities - and Inbaal says her Aquarian nature truly shines through when you look at the nature of her work.

'Aquarians are activists,' the expert explained. 'And Oprah's activism and search for justice is one of her most obvious traits.

'She was instrumental in Ellen DeGeneres' coming out, playing her therapist on her old sitcom, Ellen, thus helping seek equality for gay people.

'In her Aquarian commitment to the truth, Oprah has been outspoken about the violence she suffered as a child.

'Most notably, she has been a tireless activist in getting the conversation going around slavery in the USA.'

Inbaal praises the fact that Oprah, 68, is to this day 'outspoken about equal rights', in particular referencing her infamous interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the presenter's role in helping the Sussexes 'get their side of the story heard'.

ALICIA KEYS

Being a January Aquarius makes superstar Alicia Keys, 41, a blend of two signs, Inbaal explains.

'She embodies both the Aquarian uniqueness, and the Capricorn hardworking ethic.'

Citing the mother-of-two's 'dedication to working since her teens' - Alicia has been in the industry since 13 - mixed with her 'enviable creativity', Inbaal says she's an incredible performer who brings elements of a grounded earth sign, and a liberated air sign.

The astrology expert added that her 'commitment to making beautiful, rather than popular music, is Aquarian'.

Alicia also exhibited a free-minded attitude when, in 2016, she spoke out about deciding to ditch cosmetics with an essay in Lenny Letter in May, and quickly earned praise and support from fans for her take-me-as-I-am attitude.

JENNIFER ANISTON

Inbaal cites Jennifer's privacy - and seeming preference to deal with conflicts internally rather than in the media - as a signature Aquarian move.

She said: 'There is not a lot we know about Jennifer Aniston, despite her fame during the past 25 years.

'She's been quiet and unassuming, never involved in any drama, and for years, the conversation around her relationships and whether she wanted children or not, was not discussed by her at all.

'There were assumptions and rumours but no direct comment from the actress herself.'

Jennifer, 53, stunned the public when she last November candidly addressed the 'challenges' she's faced in an interview with Allure.

The actress admitted to the publication that she feels regret at not making the decision to freeze her eggs when she was younger, revealing that she 'threw everything' at her infertility battle, including going through IVF and 'drinking Chinese teas' in a desperate attempt to conceive.

She also slammed speculation that any of her former husbands - she has been married to both Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux - divorced her because she 'wouldn't give him a kid', noting that the constant rumors about her relationship made her infertility battle all the more difficult.

'Aquarians feel no need to expose their secrets for anybody,' Inbaal added. 'As an air sign, they can tolerate the hardships that life throws at them, and rarely ask for help.'

PARIS HILTON

'The dichotomy of Paris Hilton - is she a philanthropist or an airhead - is so Aquarian,' Inbaal said.

'It's normal for Aquarians to march to the beat of their own drum, make their own decisions and ignore anyone who tries to bribe or sway them.'

The 41-year-old socialite's ability to stay true to her own, iconic brand for as long as she has been in the public eye also rings true with the free-thinking air sign.

She has also been delighting TikTok with her social media content, showing off her inherently creative Aquarian side.

In a recent video, Paris revealed that she had played hockey years ago when she was a high school student.

The TV personality followed the trend, 'Show you, then show your sport,' in the 15-second clip that was uploaded to her 7.8 million followers.

The talented businesswoman penned in the caption that she has, 'come a long way,' since she had participated in the sport.

Inbaal has also praised Paris's love of animals as 'very Aquarian'.

Last month, Paris expanded her family of pets nearly three months after her dog Diamond Baby disappeared.

The media personality took to Instagram to share footage of a new Bengal cat she named Cutesie. The star lounged under a blanket as she filmed the spotted animal and called it toward her, cooing, 'Hi, beautiful.'

In September the reality TV star pleaded with her followers to help her find the small canine, who she lost in Los Angeles.

CRISTIANO RONALDO

'In 2021, Cristiano Ronaldo removed Coca Cola bottles from his side at a press conference, telling people to 'drink water',' Inbaal said. 'This is so Aquarian!'

The astrologer explained that the football player, 37, 'can't be bought and his only commitment is to the truth'.

'Whether this would damage his own personal brand, or what he could earn from future advertisements didn't occur to him,' she explained. 'For an Aquarian, the truth is the truth, money is not the truth.'

CHRIS ROCK

Chris Rock - who last year found himself in the headlines after a sensational Golden Globes saw him get smacked by Will Smith - channels his Aquarian side with his comedy.

Cracking a joke about Jayda Pinkett Smith, the star, 57, was then faced with her husband's wrath.

Chris is not understood to have apologised for the speech - which Inbaal believes is emblematic of the air sign.

'Aquarians will take anything for their right to speak their truth,' she explained.

Never one to care for people think, Chris has also been pictured  with controversial comedian Louis C.K. at an NYC dog park this month - as he was seen for the first time since Eddie Murphy joked about Will's Oscars incident.

He wore a padded blue jacket, joggers and trainers, paired with a woolen hat and shades while strolling with Louis, who became embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal in 2017.

CHRISTIAN BALE

'Christian Bale is known for his quirky nature and commitment to his work,' the celeb psychic explained, branding the creative ways in which he goes about pursuing roles as 'very Aquarian'.

'But the strong work ethic is a little hangover from him being a January Aquarian, and so possessing some Capricorn qualities,' she added.

'Capricorns are the sign most dedicated to work, earning, and putting their whole selves into their career.'

Christian, 48, is known for his intense dedication to his acting roles having gone through drastic physical transformations in films like The Machinist and The Fighter.
