Ideally, Notre Dame Academy likes to utilize a three-goalie rotation as they approach the lengthy high school season. However, the injury bug can throw a wrench into that system. This led to sophomore Delia Logan stepping into the crease against Sandwich, and she made the most of the opportunity as she led the Cougars to a 3-0 nonleague victory by stopping all 17 shots she faced.
“It’s next person up, just like Bill Belichick says,” Cougars coach John Findley said. “I have no issues with any of my goalies, she stood on her feet and played great.”
Tewksbury (19-4) wrapped up its dual meet season with a 57-12 MVC win over Lawrence. Victories by Nicky Desisto, Angelo Desisto, Ben Barrasso, Jack Callahan and Sean Callahan staked Tewksbury to a 21-0 lead.
Arlington capped off its fifth straight undefeated season in league play by defeating Woburn 57-22 to clinch the Middlesex League Liberty title. It was also the last-ever match at The Pit as the renowned wrestling room in Arlington is scheduled to be taken down as the school is in the midst of being renovated.
Swampscott named Peter Bush as its new head football coach, replacing Bob Serino, who retired following the 2022 season. Bush spent the past 12 seasons as the school’s defensive and special teams coordinator. A member of the school’s Hall of Fame, Bush played at Swampscott (Class of 1997), before going on to compete at UNH.
