Zac Efron makes the most of the Melbourne nightlife

Zac Efron is making the most of his time in Melbourne as he films his upcoming comedy flick Ricky Stanicky alongside John Cena.

The Hollywood hunk, 35, explored the nightlife of Australia's cultural capital as he hit the trendy bar Her and The George on Collins, the Herald Sun reported on Tuesday.

He allegedly bought drinks for bar-goers and was seen out with co-star Anja Savcic when he wasn't playing golf or visiting the Monash Children's Hospital.

John Cena has also taken in the Melbourne sights during his down time as the WWE great, 45, was spotted at local restaurants and cafés.

He was also seen visiting the National Gallery of Victoria's Alexander McQueen exhibition, reported the Herald Sun early last month.

As he spends quality time with his wife Shay Shariatzadeh in Melbourne, servers have said the professional wrestler is a delight to have around.

'He came in every single day aside from Thursday. I was one of the main people waitressing him,' a waiter from Degraves Espresso said at the time.

'I've respected his space and he's been a very good customer... He's welcome back anytime.'

They continued: 'We have had a lot (of fans) come in and interrupt while he was enjoying a beautiful meal with his wife, but it's been a pleasure having him around for the business.'

She went on to say Cena 'just walked in' one day and sat down, revealing more customers have been showing up to get a glimpse of him.

A restaurant spokesperson from ARU said the Hollywood star also made an appearance at the southeast Asian restaurant run by chef Khanh Nguyen.

'He was incredibly lovely and the team were thrilled to have him,' they said.

A-list celebs Cena and Efron will be filming scenes in a Bundoora bowling alley throughout March and April for their new movie Ricky Stanicky.

Oz Tenpin Greensborough Lanes is said to be hosting approximately 150 cast and crew with the team also taking over Bar Eight for catering.

The R-rated comedy is about three friends who use an imaginary friend, Ricky Stanicky, to blame for their misbehaving.
