Tiger Woods' longtime agent Mark Steinberg has reportedly dumped Thomas Pieters after the new LIV Golf recruit departed the PGA Tour.
The 15-time major winner has long opposed the Saudi-backed circuit and it seems as if his agent is no different.
According to golf insider, Alan Shipnuck, Pieters was told of the news upon his arrival in Mexico ahead of LIV's first invitational in its second season, which began Friday.
What's more, Pieters was not told by Steinberg himself but rather an 'underling' per the report.
'Weirdest thing ever,' Pieters said. 'He's just gone.'
Per Shipnuck, Steinberg does not have a single client on the current 48-man LIV Golf roster.
Steinberg did not take a cut of Pieters's signing bonus upon signing with his newest employers, according to the player.
Pieters was unveiled as the newest member of the second-year circuit on Monday after Sportsmail reported back in October that he was a target.
Pieters represents the second big signing of the offseason for CEO Greg Norman, who also convinced world No. 46 Mito Pereira to join from the Tour.
Woods and Rory McIlroy will soon have their own league in partnership with the PGA Tour, named the TGL. So far, 11 players have committed to the league.
Besides the powerful pair, world No. 1 Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Adam Scott, Collin Morikawa, Matt Fitzpatrick, Max Homa, Billy Horschel, Justin Rose and Xander Schauffele will participate.
The concept involves six teams of three PGA Tour players, squaring off in match play - not too dissimilar to LIV - on a data-driven virtual course that also includes a short-game complex for chipping and putting.
It'll be played on Monday nights, and will take only two hours, with in-arena fans all very close to the action. There will be 15 matches in the regular season, followed by semifinals and a final.
