How Hyatt Embraces 2023’s Trend Of Guest Health And Well-Being

Have you made a New Year’s resolution to enhance your wellness? You’re not alone.

According to the Global Wellness Institute, travel associated with the pursuit of maintaining or enhancing one’s personal well-being is projected to grow by 21% annually in the coming year, reaching a market of $1.1 Trillion by 2025.

By listening to its guests, members, colleagues, and wellness leaders, Hyatt recently predicted that the following luxury well-being trends will capture consumer interest in 2023. Spanning mental health experiences, spirit-free inhibition, locally inspired-treatments, and personalized fitness, here are some fun examples of how Hyatt is meeting this increased demand at top-tier hotels worldwide.

Spotlight on Holistic Health - To get the most out of life, holistic health—an approach to wellness that simultaneously addresses the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual components of health—has increased in popularity, driving demand for luxury wellness travel experiences ranging from meditation, farm-to-table food, art classes and more.

For example, Miraval Resorts & Spas, a global leader for wellness destinations — and as far as I know, one of Oprah’s favorite spas — plans to bring its renowned Miraval Life in Balance Spa concept to Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Beginning in early 2023, the spa will offer a daily schedule of life-enriching experiences ranging from wellness counseling, nutrition classes, culinary workshops and outdoor adventure to sound bathing and chakra balancing.

Additionally, Dry January to Dry Annually – With sober and sober-curious lifestyles continuing to resonate with consumers beyond Dry January, Hyatt is seeing ongoing success for Zero Proof, Zero Judgment, a beverage program that brings dedicated zero-proof beverage options to more than 20 U.S. Hyatt hotels. For example, luxury properties that have adopted Hyatt’s Zero Proof, Zero Judgment program, such as Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort and Thompson Denver, are topping off beverage menus with inventive non-alcoholic cocktails created with Lyre’s, Athletic Brewing Co., Ritual Zero Proof, and Fever-Tree products.

Spas with a Sense of Place – Consumers are continuing to value the local culture of the places they visit, and Hyatt’s luxury spas offer guests a truly immersive experience – from design to treatments. Alila hotels in Bali offer unique, locally inspired spa experiences that draw inspiration from their destinations and cultures. Additionally, at , the Art of the Coconut Culinary Experience is a World of Hyatt FIND experience at Alila Kothaifaru Maldives starts with an island tour that reveals how locals climb for coconuts the traditional way, returns to the resort for a hands-on Maldivian cooking class, and finishes at tranquil treetop Spa Alila with a tropical coconut and flower bath, followed by massage and mini facial.

In-Room Fitness is the New Room Service - With health and wellness top of mind for guests in the New Year (and year-round), in-room fitness options have become more of a standard than an amenity at luxury hotels, saving time, ensuring privacy, and offering an alternative or even a warmup space to onsite fitness spaces.

This fall, guests of select Thompson Hotels across the country will be able to enjoy CorePower Yoga On Demand, with yoga and meditation classes delivered via video in the comfort of their rooms.

And when all else fails and you simply must work out in your hotel room, you may want to follow my example: I am famous for jumping rope in my hotel room – without the rope – if I am in an enclosed, small space and simply need to get my heart pumping. I just “go through the motions” for about a half-hour and it works. You may just want to try it.
