Golf influencer Paige Spiranac sparked a feud with Phil Mickelson this week, after the legendary player criticized the fashion choices of fellow pro Sam Ryder.
Ryder participated in the Farmers Insurance Open last week and competed in maroon joggers, which left his ankles exposed as he played the event.
Mickelson, 52, is 19 years Ryder's senior, and wasn't a fan of the younger competitor's attire at the tournament.
'The Tour doesn't allow shorts but does allow this week's leader to wear joggers with ankle socks?' Mickelson tweeted Saturday.
'Showing 4 inches of ankle? I'm no fashion guy, never will be, but there are some things I won't ever understand.'
Spiranac disagreed with Mickelson's fashion sensibilities, and took a low blow at the three-time Masters champ in the process.
'He was showing maybe like an inch of ankle, they weren't super tight, I thought he looked good. But it just shows how incredibly frustrating golf Twitter can be that they were so bothered by Sam Ryder wearing joggers,' she said on her 'Playing a Round' podcast.
'Also, if Phil thinks that's four inches, I feel sorry for his wife.'
Spiranac admitted that she didn't see the tweet firsthand because Mickelson has her blocked.
And while Ryder's sartorial choices seem to have ruffled some feathers, he played well in the event.
The 33-year-old shot a -9 at the tournament, which was good for joint-fourth place.
His score was just four strokes behind winner Max Homa.
Mickelson has been with LIV Golf since June, and their second season is set to start on February 24.
