Fans Are Split After Seeing LIV Golf Land Its 1st Major Sponsor

LIV Golf received big news ahead of its 2023 season as it’s been announced that they’ve secured their first global sponsor.

The sponsorship comes just a month after agreeing to terms with a TV partner, signaling growth ahead of season number two. Fans, however, are split upon hearing that they’ve received more support.

In January, LIV broke the news that tournaments would be aired on the CW, announcing a three-year partnership with the network. Many were quick to criticize that decision as golf viewers remain at odds in their backing of the Saudi-funded league.

On Wednesday, it was reported that another major partner plans to join forces with LIV. Golf Digest reports that EasyPost, a logistical and commerce company based in Utah, is set to become the league’s first major sponsor.

Here’s what VP of growth Sam Hancock had to say about the opportunity.

Now, EasyPost isn’t completely new to LIV. They’ve been one of golfer Patrick Reed’s partners for some time. But the sponsorship is welcomed news to a league that reported “virtually zero” revenue in its first season.

The deal sent shockwaves through the golf world, with many fans rushing to social media to post their reactions. They remain split on their view of the league.

Some see this as a fantastic move for the future.

Others, however, are not yet sold.

Sports reporter Darren Rovell went as far as to say it wasn’t a real sponsorship.

His reason being that there are connections to the UAE. He tweeted out another message implying that the search for the first “unconnected sponsor” continues.

Whether you’re for or against LIV Golf, the sponsorship news is a positive sign for the league.
