A druken joyride has come to an abrupt end after police caught up with two men who allegedly drove a stolen golf buggy around one of Australia's busiest shopping precincts.
Startling CCTV captured the interstate tourists aged 37 and 44 allegedly zooming around in the vehicle complete with flashing lights through the streets of Adelaide and in Rundle Mall early Saturday morning.
The buggy had been allegedly stolen from the annual four day Womadelaide music, arts and dance festival in nearby Botanic Park.
Police eventually pulled over the pair on King William Street, where the driver, 44, was breathtested and allegedly blew 0.133, almost three times the legal limit.
It's unknown how long the men were driving the buggy around the city's streets.
The vehicle has since been returned to festival organisers.
Senior Constable Kylee Simpson told ABC Radio Adelaide the two men would have woken up with sore heads after their early morning antics.
'The buggy had actually been stolen from Hackney Road earlier in the night, from Womad [at Botanic Park],' she said.
'Both men are from Victoria and they're still with police at the moment, discussing their bail options.
'These two, 44 and 37 — definitely old enough to know better.'
The driver was later charged with drink driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and illegal use of a motor vehicle.
He will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court in May.
His passenger, 37, was charged with illegal use and issued an adult caution.
Festival oragnisers branded the men's alleged antics as dumb and foolish behaviour.
'Ou've got an audience of 30,000 people so in that number of people, there's going to be one or two who perhaps get overexcited and behave not as well as you'd festival,' director Ian Scobie told reporters.
