Celebs go dating: A look at the stars who've turned to online apps in a bid to find love

As finding love in the modern age gets harder and harder more celebs are joining every day folk in signing up to dating apps.

From Hollywood stars to TV favourites, while some have found long lasting connections others have been left wanting - with one disgruntled star even creating their own app as a result.

MailOnline takes a look at some of the most famous online daters....

Channing Tatum

Back in 2019 the Magic Mike hunk, 42, was reported to have signed up to celebrity dating app Raya following his split from ex Jessie J.

According to US Weekly poked some fun at his resume and wrote on his profile: 'And yes, I used to be a stripper. Sorry'.

Sources told the publication that Channing added the sexually charged song Brown Sugar by D'Angelo to his online account.

Some of the lyrics to the first song on the album of the same name include: 'Oh, sugar when you're close to me, you love me right down to my knees. And whenever you let me hit it, sweet like the honey when it comes to me.'

While it's unclear how successful his online account was, he has since began dating actress Zoe Kravitz, 34, after meeting on a movie set, before going public in their relationship in August 2021.

Lily Allen and David Harbour

Pop singer Lily Allen, 37, and her Stranger Things actor husband, 47, struck gold when meeting on on Raya, going on to tie the knot in 2020.

Discussing the first meet David said: 'I was in London alone, doing Black Widow, on this app, going on dates and stuff.

'And yeah, I started texting with her, she was in Italy at the time — we got together, went on a date at the Wolseley, and it was, you know, she's f*****g unbelievable.'

David and Lily married in Las Vegas with the ceremony officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator.

The actor is now stepfather to Lily's daughters Ethel, 11, and Marnie, 10, who she shares with her ex Sam Cooper.

Rebel Wilson

Rebel Wilson recently launched her own dating app Fluid, catering to singles who don't want to define their sexual orientation - after previously trying to find love online.

Now, the Australian actress, 42, has revealed what inspired her to dip her toe into the digital dating market.

Rebel, who is in a same-sex relationship with girlfriend Ramona Agruma, told Instagram followers that she once used celebrity-only dating app Raya but didn't like having to specify her sexual preference when she logged in.

'I was with my friends and I was like, 'Let's create a dating app''. I had been on a dating app, Raya,' she began.

'My experience was basically identifying as a straight woman but I kind of knew I was never 100 per cent straight.'

'I remember when I went on, you have to kind of tick boxes about who you are,' she recalled.

'On Raya it said, 'Are you interested in men or women?' And those were the only two options. But it felt weird to tick a box.'

Helen Flanagan

Earlier this month Helen Flanagan also joined Raya after splitting from footballer fiance Scott Sinclair.

The former Coronation Street actress, 32, looked incredible in the one profile picture as she pouted for a selfie, while in another Helen put on a busty display, showing off her new boob job, in a silk midi dress.

The TV star listed her job as 'actress and social media' on the dating app.

Her Bristol Rovers ex Scott, 33, is said to be 'humiliated' by the stars search for love after they separated in October.

Sam Smith

Pop superstar Sam Smith bucked the trend and switched to Tinder after failing to find love on A-list only Raya back in 2021.

The Oscar-winning singer,  30, reportledy has the help of their friends who are 'vetting' their matches to ensure they find someone suitable.

A source told The Sun: 'Sam has been single for ages now and pals are keen to find someone. It’s hard enough to meet someone normally, but in the past year, because of the pandemic, Sam’s love life has suffered.

'On Tinder, a lot of people haven’t believed it really is Sam because it’s not every day you see a superstar on there. But all of the matches are being vetted by friends, who are sending profiles to Sam in the hope that one of them could be The One.'

The singer, who is non-binary and uses them/they pronouns, appeared to fail to find love online and has since coupled up with rumoured beau Christian Cowans - after bonding over their love of fashion.

Cara Delevingne

Model Cara, 30, who has reportledy dated Jake Bugg and Miley Cyrus is another reported fan of Raya.

Founded by American actor Jesse Johnson, the half-brother of Fifty Shades Of Grey star Dakota, its elite members rely on it to be both safe and extremely private – an exclusive world for celebrities and those who work in the ‘creative industries’.

And it boasts an extraordinary set of security measures to boot.

In an effort to keep the general public at bay, potential members must first join the app and then find two sponsors who are already members.

Paul Mescal

Another reported user of the star-studded app is Normal People actor and Oscar-nominee Paul Mescal,  27.

Back in 2020 he reportedly signed up to the celebrity dating site after the actor 'knew he would be recognised instantly' on 'regular' sites.

Amy Schumer

Comedian Amy Schumer, 41,  is yet another celeb to sign up to Raya and it's the place met her now ex-boyfriend Ben Hanisch.

Following two years of loved up social media snaps and red carpet appearances the actress' rep told People  in 2015 that the duo 'ended their relationship after thoughtful consideration and remain friends.'

The actress has now gone on to marry Chris Fischer in 2018 with whom she shares son Gene, three.

Rebecca Adlington

Olympian Rebecca found success online and met her now-husband, Andy Parsons, in January 2018 on dating app Bumble.

She told HELLO!  "Any kind of date is a big thing when you're not used to it, and I had never done online dating before.

"I had only been using the app for a month and Andy was the first person I went on a date with, so I feel like I hit the jackpot. We chatted for a couple of weeks and the conversation flowed easily before we met at a crazy-golf course in Liverpool'.
