Harry Kane is set to ask Tottenham owner Daniel Levy to listen to offers for him as Manchester United prepare a £90million bid for the striker, according to reports.

The 27-year-old has previously hinted that he could move on from Spurs this summer should his side's situation not improve by the end of the season.

Spurs were beaten 3-1 by Leeds on Saturday to severely dent their hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League, with the top-four very much out of reach with only a few matches remaining.

And according to The Sun, Kane will not put in a transfer request at Tottenham but will make a personal appeal to the club to consider letting him go for the right price.

The report also says the Red Devils are considering a £90million move for Kane, and while Spurs owner Levy values him at nearly double that price, the current coronavirus financial crisis in football makes holding out for such a fee is difficult.

Kane himself hinted that he could quit Tottenham should his side not improve, after reports claimed the England captain would leave should Champions League football not be secured for next season.

'Individual awards are great, they are fantastic achievements,' he said last month after winning the Footballer of the Year prize at the London Football Awards.

'When I look back at the end of my career, I will go over it and take in a little bit more. The goal right now as a player is to win team trophies. As much as this [award] is great, I want to be winning the biggest prizes that there is to offer as a team and we are not quite doing that.

'It is one of those [situations], it is bittersweet. I would rather be winning team trophies and this award. It is what it is.'

Kane ranks in second place in Spurs' all-time record goalscorers list , with 219 goals so far for the club he joined at academy level back in 2004.

And despite the striker scoring 31 goals in all competitions this term and registering 16 assists alongside that, the England captain has yet to win any trophies at club level with that run carrying on into this season.

After Saturday's defeat at Leeds, Spurs are now seven points behind fourth-placed Leicester with just three matches remaining. They would need to win all three matches and hope the Foxes, West Ham and Liverpool above them all drop several points between now and May 23.

Tottenham also crashed out of the FA Cup and Europa League competitions at the last-16 stage, the latter of which coming when Spurs gave up a 2-0 first-leg lead to Dinamo Zagreb to go out 3-2 on aggregate.

That form caused Jose Mourinho to lose his job last month while Spurs also surrendered the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City shortly after the Portuguese manager's dismissal.
