Brooklyn Peltz-Beckham On All That ‘Nepo Baby’ Business

There’s much ado about ‘nepo babies’ at the moment, and Brooklyn Peltz Beckham can’t seem to escape it.

As the eldest son of Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham and football legend David Beckham, the 23-year-old has been a prime target for social media’s backlash for years.

Only, objectively, the accusations of nepotism don’t really ring true. In Peltz Beckham’s case, he’s not trying to ride his parents’ coattails into music, fashion, or football. He’s simply trying to cook.

In 2021, he began posting videos of himself preparing a few of his favorite dishes to Facebook and Instagram, where he has over 14 million followers, and offers of investment came flooding in.

Within three months, he had not only secured his very own digital TV show—Cookin’ With Brooklyn—but filmed every episode.

“I’ve been so lucky to do a show and work with such amazing people at Wheelhouse, Facebook and my own team as well,” says Peltz Beckham. “My manager and I had a lot of fun picking who we teamed up with and hope everyone enjoyed – I think we absolutely killed it!

“Cookin’ With Brooklyn came together very quickly, thankfully, and I had the best time making the show and was even able to bring my wife to set some days. We filmed every day from 4am to 11pm and were able to wrap shooting within three weeks.”

Last April, Beckham married actor Nicola Peltz, the daughter of billionaire investor Nelson Peltz (chairperson of Wendy’s), and often includes her in his cooking projects (“she can’t cook, but it’s nice to have her in the kitchen with me!”).

For Valentine’s Day this year, the duo baked heart-shaped pizzas in a Vogue video that’s been viewed more than 3 million times.

And yes, he knows his last name will always have an affect on those numbers.

“I am so proud of my parents and their accomplishments,” says Peltz Beckham. “I know how hard they worked to get where they are and I’m so grateful for all that they have given me.

“But right now I am trying to make my own path and trying to have fun while doing it. I’m just going to keep working hard and treating others with kindness. I think if you do those things, then you’ll be happy.”

Happiness, in his case, is just about any opportunity to work with food and drink, including his new role as an ambassador for Silk Nextmilk.

In the campaign, which launches today, Peltz Beckham dons a plant-based milk moustache reminiscent of the famous Got Milk? campaign his father shot twenty years prior.

“I actually haven’t told him about the campaign yet, I was going to call him when I was on set, but I think it’s going to be a fun surprise!” he laughs.

“Plant-based is very important to me. I rarely eat meat anymore and, in my opinion, Silk Nextmilk tastes even better than dairy milk…and I’m not just saying that—I swear it’s just so good! I’ve actually never been so excited about a campaign before and can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

There’s an infectious joy to Peltz Beckham’s passion for food. The more we talk, the more I root for him.

“I’m still learning every day, I’m not a professional chef by any means,” he admits. “I’m just someone who loves making food.”

Long-term, he hopes to open up a high-end English pub in LA, where he and his wife now live, but doesn’t feel he’s ready yet.

To prepare, he’s seizing every learning opportunity that comes his way, including a secret “dream project” that will be announced in April.

“I grew up with just the best proper comfort pub food in the UK and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Especially now that I live here, I need my local pub!” he exclaims.

“But that might take a bit to get things started so we’ll consider that the five to ten-year plan.”
