Bournemouth host south coast neighbours Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-final today. It is as good a time as any for the Championship side to play Ralph Hasenhuttl’s outfit as the Saints have lost 10 of their last 12 Premier League matches. They were defeated 2-1 at home by relegation-threatened Brighton last time out, with Leandro Trossard securing the three points after Che Adams cancelled out Lewis Dunk’s opener.
The Saints will be without Danni Ings, Oriol Romeu and Theo Walcott for the clash, while Takumi Minamino – who has impressed since moving to St. Mary’s on loan – is cup-tied. Southampton have reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup once in the last 17 years, and Hasenhuttl believes the clash with Bournemouth is an opportunity to turn around their season.
Meanwhile, the Cherries lie just two points outside the playoff places in the Championship following their relegation from the top flight last season. This is only the second time in Bournemouth’s history that they have been this far in the FA Cup – losing to Manchester United in the quarter-finals back in 1957. Jonathan Woodgate was named the club’s new manager a month ago, and he will be desperate to earn a trip to Wembley with a win over the struggling Saints. Follow all the action below.

18 mins: Bournemouth have just been penned in over the last few minutes but they get a chance to open up the Saints with long ball from Asmir Begovic. Phillips Billing flicks the ball onto Dominic Solanke but the striker is unable to bring the ball under control and it gets away from him.
15 mins: Nice work from Stuart Armstrong who takes the ball into the right side of the box, shrugs off a tackle and then cuts it back into the middle. Redmond and Bertrand are both open but it’s the left-back who goes for goal and fires his effort wide of the left-hand post.
12 mins: NO GOAL! Hang on a minute. VAR is tasked with checking the goal and it looks as though Walker-Peters is just marginally offside. He is, VAR overturn the opener and Bournemouth get a reprieve!
10 mins: GOAL! Kyle Walker-Peters makes a wonderful run down the right wing and is picked out by a lovely pass from Jan Bednarek up the pitch. Walker-Peters sprints in behind Diego Rico and carries the ball into the box. Che Adams runs with him and the Saints right-back squares a pass towards him. Cameron Carter-Vickers slides in to deflect the ball but can only turn it into his own net!
9 mins: Dominic Solanke darts towards the near post as the corner ball comes in but he’s beaten to the ball by Armstrong who heads it clear for Southampton.
The Saints then give the ball away in their own final third and Bournemouth win another corner after a cross from Diego Rico is deflected behind. Like the first one though, Southampton deal with it well.
6 mins: Saints play the corner short and an attempted one-two between Redmond and Ward-Prowse sends the ball out for a goal kick. Bournemouth put together a nice attack after they find Danjuma over on the left. He brings the ball into the middle and slots it to Jack Stacey. His cross is defended and goes out for a corner.
3 mins: A long ball forward from Southampton sends Kyle Walker-Peters bombing down the right wing. He keeps the ball in play before finding James Ward-Prowse. Ward-Prowse twists and turns his way into the box and chips a cross to Nathan Redmond. He heads the ball down for Stuart Armstrong to take a shot from range and the Southampton midfielder wins a corner.
Kick off: Southampton get the game underway and win a throw in over on the left wing. The ball comes back into play and Ben Pearson presses high winning the ball for the home side. He sends it to Arnaut Danjuma who tries to weave his way into the box but gets shut out.
Here come the teams, Southampton are the favourites but Bournemouth may just have enough firepower to cause an upset at the Vitality Stadium today.
