Spain has caught the attention of the cricketing world by bowling out the Isle of Man's national side for just 10 runs, the lowest score in the history of men's T20 in one of the strangest matches in cricket history.
The Spaniards clinched a 5-0 Bi-lateral Series win over their opponents, with their bizarre 10-wicket victory achieved off just two balls at the La Manga club in Cartagena on Sunday.
It was the fastest run chase in the history of men’s T20 internationals, with Spanish player Awais Ahmed hitting two sixes off two legal deliveries and 118 balls remaining.
Isle of Man’s record-breaking total of 10 included three golden ducks, six ducks, three scores of two, a top score of four, and was over in just 8.4 overs.
Sydney Thunder previously held the record for lowest score after getting just 15 runs against the Adelaide Strikers in the 2022-23 season of the Big Bash League.
Isle of Man also set the record for the lowest score in the history of T20s, which was previously held by Turkey who managed just 21 against the Czech republic in 2019.
Isle of Man’s highest scorer on the day was Joseph Burrows, who managed four runs off seven balls. Only three other players from his team made runs.
Atif Mehmood, Spain's man of the match, took four wickets for six runs off four overs, while fast bowler Mohammad Kamran took four for four.
Spain, ranked 36th in the world, were victorious in the earlier matches in the series, though their opponents, ranked 39th, fared much better.
Cricket fans following online took to social media to discuss the result.
'This is surely close to a record in Cricket. Spain beat the Isle Of Man in a T20 in two balls. Not overs. Balls,' said one Twitter user.
'Sydney Thunder rejoice!' joked a third.
'Spain only needed 3 balls to beat the Isle of Man. Strangest cricket match in history.'
