Popular Aussie cricket star David Warner has received an armed escort through an Indian airport - as wife Candice and the kids are spotted flying out to join him on tour.

Warner has attracted a legion of fans over the years while playing in the Indian Premier League and is used to being mobbed by fans for photographs.

Last week he was hilariously recorded by teammate Usman Khawaja posing for a seemingly endless amount of fan pics, so it is not surprising he's been given an armed escort this time around.

Cricket journalist Louis Cameron posted the photo of Warner to Twitter on Tuesday night with the caption, ' You and whose army @davidwarner31?'

Meanwhile in Melbourne, Candice Warner was photographed with her daughters preparing to jet out to India to join her husband.

Looking every inch the multitasking mum, Candice was seen carrying luggage at the airport while keeping a close eye on her three girls.

The former ironwoman has admitted in the past that life without her husband is difficult when he is away for months at a time to play cricket.

Candice has explained that it has even got to the point where she's ended up in crying in her car from the stress and loneliness.

David Warner's future at the top of the order for the Aussie Test side has become shaky at best, with former teammate and pace bowling legend Mitchell Johnson recently calling for him to be dropped.

The Australian's were humiliated by an innings and 132 runs in the first Test cricket match in Nagpur, including being rolled for just 91 runs in their second innings - the lowest score any Aussie team has ever posted in India.

Warner, 36, was one of many failures with the bat with just 1 and 10 in his two digs.

Warner averages just 22.16 in India after 18 innings. In Sri Lanka he only averages 25.22 after 10 Test innings while he has fared slightly better in five innings in Pakistan with an average of 33.80.

The only Asian nation where Warner has enjoyed success is Bangladesh, with a high score of 123 pumping up his average to 62.75 in four innings.

Former Test skipper Mark Taylor wrote that Warner would need to find form in a hurry if he was going to hold his place in the XI for the remaining three matches in the Border–Gavaskar Trophy series.

'Davey in India … it's not his favourite place to play . That's an understatement,' he wrote for Wide World of Sports.

'He's averaging 22 in India, where he doesn't have bounce or pace on the ball. He hasn't had that in the past in India and he's not going to get it at all in this series, but he's going to have to find a way to conquer batting in India if he stays in the side.'

Warner clearly misses his family and recently posted a picture of his wife Candice and daughters Ivy Mae, Indi Rae, and Isla Rose after the heavy loss at Nagpur with the caption 'My world. See you soon girls' with a series of love heart emojis.
