Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is known for making an impression. On the court, itâs with his dazzling performances. Off the court, itâs with his acts of charity and his partnerships in the sportswear and fashion industries. His latest fashion foray turned a lot of heads on Christmas Day.
Doncic arrived at the Mavericksâ game against the Los Angeles Lakers looking like a born-and-raised Texas cowboy, wearing a custom western wear outfit made exclusively for him. Lucchese, the 139-year-old brand based in El Paso, Texas, styled his entire look.
The handmade charcoal caiman Lucchese boots he wore are his first-ever pair of cowboy boots. Artisans at Lucchese had to specially build the boots to fit Doncicâs size 16 foot to give them a unique and comfortable fit.
While Doncicâs size 16 Lucchese boots are big, they arenât the biggest pair in Dallas. The company also makes custom size 96 boots for Big Tex, the iconic 55-foot mascot of the State Fair of Texas.
Rounding out his look, Doncic also wore a Lucchese El Paso pearl snap shirt, black ultra belly caiman belt and a yet-to-be-released charcoal gray beaver cowboy hat. He finished his fit with a pair of Wrangler jeans.
After the game, a comeback 124-115 win for Dallas, Doncic admitted that he forgot one last accessory for his Texas-inspired getup: his pet horned lizard that he got from the guys at Dude Perfect.
âI forgot my horny toad at the house,â Doncic said jokingly. âNext time, Iâll bring that.â
When asked why he has a horned lizard, Doncic simply said, âBecause Iâm Texan.â With custom Luccheses and a horned lizard, thereâs little doubt that Doncic has fully embraced and immersed himself in Texas culture.
