Effortlessly classy waist clinching dress with clever pleat design goes viral on TikTok

Social media influencers have gone wild for a dress which appears to flatter any figure with its clever pleated and gathered design.

The 100 per cent polyester dress, made by LA-based brand A.L.C. Ltd, has an asymmetric design, gathered detailing on the side - and costs a whopping $695 (£565).

An online description for the Delfina Dress describes it as 'asymmetrically draped and pleated in wardrobe', adding: 'This one-shoulder silhouette features a confident side cutout and high-low hem.'

TikTok has been flooded with users sharing how the dress looks on them, and many, including Love Islanders and fashion bloggers, have been impressed with the results.

The high-end version, made by A.L.C. Ltd, comes in a range of colours from a champagne pink to bright orange and coffee brown.

The dresses create an hourglass effect for the wearer as the 'vintage satin' they are made from is gathered on one side of the waist, allowing the material to fall beautifully.

Regardless of the hefty price tag, the dresses are now sold out in a number of different sizes after fans flocked to buy the classy frock.

The daughter of late basketball player Kobe Bryant, 20-year-old Natalia Bryant, recently looked radiant wearing A.L.C.'s bronze-coloured gown to the premiere of Babylon.

Meanwhile British influencer Patricia Bright, 35, shared a video of herself trying on one of the ivory-coloured gowns while on holiday in the Seychelles.

In a nod to the steep price of the dress, the South London-born vlogger asked, 'Is the internet right some times, because I was really influenced to get this dress was it worth it?'

Her followers overwhelmingly responded with praise for the dress, including former Love Island stars Montana Brown and Millie Court who commented 'Wow' and 'Amazing'.

While she initially seemed unsure about whether the dress was good value, Patricia went on to share a series of stunning snaps in it as she enjoyed her stay at the exclusive Four Seasons Resort on the islands.

She even made a TikTok responding to a comment criticising it's price, saying that she decided it was 'worth it for me' as it came in under her 'monthly budget for fashion'.

Other social media users have taken to Instagram and TikTok to share pictures of themselves attending formal events in the versatile dress.

Another influencer, Isabel, who goes by the handle @prettyfrowns, promoted the dress on her platforms as she did a 'get ready with me' video showcasing it.

The influencer looked elegant in the white midi dress, which she paired with matching white flower earrings and simple strappy white heels for a holiday party.

Isabel also shows off her choice of two possible white micro bags to pair with the dress, selecting a feathery one to finish off her chic look.

Her ivory dress also matched with her ceiling to floor white curtains, she points out in the caption of her Instagram.

British influencer and model Iskra Lawrence commented on her post 'Wowwww this is everything' while American fashion designer and blogger Danielle Bernstein (@weworewhat) reacted simply saying 'stunning'.

Some social media users weren't such huge fans of the dress's price point, with one commenting 'The dress is almost $700'.

Another responded: 'Yeah I can live without it. Looks great on this woman though'.

And one shared their thoughts in response to Patricia's post saying: 'I think the dress is stunning but $700 for polyester is highway robbery.'

One TikTok user even claimed that her friend had asked her to buy the dress as a bridesmaid dress for her wedding.

User Jen Glantz, who hit headlines as the 'world's first' bridesmaid for hire, responded by shaking her head rolling her eyes, and used a TikTok sound of Harry Styles singing 'I'm going to go broke' over the clip.

Meanwhile, influencer Sabryna Salmon, shared a clip urging her followers to 'help a girl out!'

She explained her predicament after trying an orange version of the dress on at Bloomingdales, saying 'she is stunning, oh my god I need her!'

'The thing is, it is $700... and I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a dress to be honest.

'It's from the brand A.L.C. I believe, so I wanted to ask you guys to talk... can you help your girl find a dupe!'

One savvy shopper shared a dupe of the one-shoulder dress which comes a cobalt blue, costing under £20 on Shein.

While on the cheaper side compared with the designer dress, shoppers have left rave reviews of the gown, with one saying it 'makes you feel a million dollars'.

Others suggested similar dresses from AliExpress and Light in the Box.
