Hingham has named T.J. Byrne as its new football coach, replacing Mark Nutley, who resigned for personal reasons. Byrne has more than 20 years of high school coaching experience, the last five as head coach at Weymouth.
A Hingham resident, Byrne has been a Massachusetts state trooper since 2005.
“Being able to come home and be a part of the home town football team is special,” Byrne said. “Hingham football has had a long-standing history of success, and I am looking forward to continuing and contributing to that legacy.”
Newburyport named Shannon Haley head coach after spending all of last season as interim head coach. Haley, the daughter of longtime Pentucket head coach Ruth Beaton, guided the Clippers to a 16-4-2 record amid a trip to the Div. 3 state semifinals in her first year with the program.
