Drake and Michael B. Jordan bring slice of Hollywood to varsity basketball match in LA

Drake and actor Michael B. Jordan brought an unexpected slice of Hollywood to a highschool varsity basketball match on Thursday night.

The two stars were seen cheering on from the sidelines as they supported Sierra Canyon Trailblazers and its leading stars Bronny James - son of basketball star LeBron James - and Amari Bailey for the team's last game of the season.

Invested in the game, Drake was even seen consoling Sierra Canyon's star player Bailey following the match as the group failed to secure a win.

Rapper Drake and Just Mercy actor Jordan were seen getting animated as they watched Sierra Canyon take on the Etiwanda Eagles in their regional semi-final match.

Dressed casually in a grey hoodie and jeans, Drake was seen chatting eagerly to Jordan from their front row seats and seemed to go through a roller-coaster of emotions while backing his team for the win.

Both he and Jordan, who kept things low-key in khaki shorts and a beige hooded sweatshirt, were seen up out of their seats as they watched on intently and yelled at the referee.

Sadly, their team Sierra Canyon lost out on a place in the regional final and Drake was on hand to console the players after a stellar season.

He was seen hugging player Bailey, who was dressed in a towel, after the match.

Bailey racked up 37 points on the court, but it wasn't enough to secure the win as Sierra Canyon lost 82-76 to the Eagles.

A huge basketball fan, Drake is often seen in the stands and recently took his son Adonis, three, to an LA Lakers game at the Staple Centre.

Jordan, meanwhile, recently found himself honoured in the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2022 honours.

He leads the celebs in the movie world who are set to receive a star on the famous walkway, with Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin, Thor's Tessa Thompson and the late Carrie Fisher set to join him.

Jordan has been tipped to star in the next Superman movie, after he was seen meeting with Warner Bros. director JJ Abrams.

The actor, who appeared in Marvel's Black Panther movie alongside the late Chadwick Boseman, recently addressed the rumours that first surfaced in 2019 and was seen keeping coy when quizzed on Jake's Takes.

In April, Michael said that he was 'flattered' that people want him for the role.

He said: 'I appreciate people that think about me in that type of way for these roles. I don’t really have anything more to kind of give on that, other than it’s just flattering and I appreciate it.'

Jordan teased: 'Whoever they get, or if it goes that way, I think it’ll be an interesting thing to see.'
