The MLB has implemented a new time clock rule that has received mixed reviews from fans.
We’ve seen it in effect during spring training and it’ll be interesting to see how the players adjust.
With some fans enjoying the new rule to speed up the game, the old-school fans hate it altogether. That said, these two videos may have been the deciding factor as to why the MLB changed the rule.
First, we have a Tik-Tok video that counts the number of times José Altuve hits an inside-the-park homerun before Pedro Baez throws a pitch.
Then, there’s a video showing the MLB’s time clock in full effect. On one side of the screen, you watch an entire half-inning in the same time span it takes for one pitch to be thrown under the previous rules.
Credit to the MLB for attempting to make a change to the game. The biggest complaint about the sport is that it’s too slow.
With the time clock in place, the game can move along at a quicker pace, potentially making it a more enjoyable experience for fans.
Between this, and the extra innings rule where a player is automatically placed on second base, the MLB certainly doing everything possible to entice more viewers.
Based on the two videos above, these subtle changes could go a long way in helping the league gain more fans.
