Jennifer Garner is staying busy with charity work as her ex-husband Ben Affleck reunites with his former fiancee Jennifer Lopez.
The 49-year-old actress and her Yes Day costar Édgar Ramírez recently visited Casa Alitas, a migrant shelter along the southern border.
Meanwhile, JLo is reportedly 'happy' with Ben after the couple 'rekindled their romance' in Montana following her split with fiance Alex Rodriguez.
Casa Alitas is one of 35 locations run by the Save the Children Fund, which aims to improve the lives of children through education, healthcare and economic opportunities, though it also provides emergency aid.
The two actors were there to help distribute food among the migrants, including chicken soup and some fruit.
The Alias star shared a video to her Instagram on Tuesday, documenting her experience during the border visit.
In a lengthy caption, the brunette beauty wrote: 'Last week my wonderful friend @edgarramirez25 and I visited Casa Alitas, a shelter for migrant families, and one of @savethechildren's 35 partners along the Southern border of the US.
'The takeaways: 1. Edgar says it best: No one wants to leave home. Children and families are arriving to the US—Mexico border, having fled unimaginable violence and disasters in their home countries.??
'2. Climate migration is not a problem of the future, it is happening now. Save the Children warns of multiple countries expected to descend from drought into famine next year. ??
'3. We met with Border Patrol officers and humanitarian aid workers—they are working on different sides of the same problem. It is important to note—they have the same message: we need immigration reform. The last legislation on immigration was passed under George W. Bush. Swinging from one set of Presidential orders to the next is expensive and destabilizing. ??
'4. With shelters like @casaalitastucson, Save the Children is fulfilling our mission to help the world's most vulnerable children. ??
'5. People are good. Along with the incredible people who welcome weary travelers to Casa Alitas, we met organizations offering legal services, doctors volunteering medical care, and we spent time with the Green Valley-Sahuarita Samaritans, who took Edgar and me to crosses marking bodies found along the migrant's desert path—in this case a young man who had died of dehydration and, not far away, a cross honoring the recovered body of a stillborn baby.
'The Samaritans' ceremony ends with 'Presente', acknowledging the traveler's spirit, and our connection to them. ??
'6. This is a thorny, politicized issue, but with babies and children at the center—it is on us to keep working together toward solutions. Thank you, Edgar, for adding your heart to our trip. And thank you to everyone in Tucson, AZ, for taking the time to tell us your stories. ?? '
She showed off her Spanish with Édgar as they conversed with some of the children at the facility and gave them snacks.
The two also worked together to lead a story time session for the young children as they read books for them, which the 13 Going On 30 star acting them out.
She was also seen engaging in a fun game of tag with some of the kids.
Many of the families had been let out of detention facilities run by the federal government, so they need essentials and some things that had been taken from them, like shoe laces.
She concluded her video with her and Edgar visiting a grave marker that appeared to be for a migrant who had died trying to cross into the United States.
Garner also has more work ahead of her.
The White House announced that Garner will accompany First Lady Dr Jill Biden to visit two schools in Jennifer's home state of West Virginia on Thursday.
She and Biden will make an appearance at the Arnoldsburg Elementary School in Arnoldsburg and will stop by a vaccination site at Capital High School in Charleston later the same day.
Jennifer has been involved in working with the First Lady and the administration to promote vaccines and policy initiatives, including COVID-19 relief plans. The two have known each for years and both serve as board members for Save the Children.
In the meantime, JLo, 51, has been spending time with Ben over the last few weeks following the end of her engagement to Rodriguez, 45, and over the weekend, the pair were spotted in Montana, where the 48-year-old actor has a holiday home.
A source told People magazine of their break: 'She had a great time with Ben. She is happy with him and enjoys spending time with him.'
The On the Floor hitmaker and the Argo star - who were pictured in a car together near a resort in Big Sky - are said to have a 'strong connection' with one another.
Another source said: '[Jennifer] spent several days with Ben out of town. They have a strong connection. It's all been quick and intense, but Jennifer is happy.'
The Hustlers actress got engaged to her Gigli co-star in 2002 and they were due to marry in 2003 but postponed the ceremony just days before it was due to take place and officially split in January 2004.
It was recently claimed they have maintained a friendship since their romance fizzled out the first time round.
A source said recently: 'They have spent time together in LA over the past week. They have a lot of love for each other. They have always admired each other.'
The singer-and-actress - who has 13-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, 52, - was rumoured to have split with the retired baseball star in March.
However, Jennifer and father-of-two Alex insisted at the time they were working through their issues but last month they confirmed they had gone their separate ways.
In a joint statement, they said: 'We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. we wish the best for each other and each other's children.'
