And ahead of rehearsals for his Saturday Night Live stint this week, controversial businessman Elon Musk was seen arriving to the east coast on Monday night.
Landing at New Jersey's Teterboro Airport, the 49-year-old Tesla CEO was joined by partner Grimes, 33, and their son X Æ A-XII, who turns one this month.
Musk, who recently moved from California to Texas could be seen in a grey T-shirt and black pants with a bandana around his neck, presumably used as a face mask.
Singer Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, wore a floral skirt with raised hem which revealed one of her huge leg tattoos.
The Canadian hitmaker teamed it with combat boots and a sweater with backwards baseball cap.
Musk could be seen cradling their baby son who wore a pastel blue onesie, as the couple hopped in a ride to Manhattan.
News that Musk would be hosting SNL - with music by Miley Cyrus - prompted huge backlash online last month and angered several cast members, who think it is not right that a businessman, rather than a performer, be given the honor.
And there have been early signs of tension between the long-running show's core cast members and Musk, who is worth an estimated $173 billion.
Last week, Musk wrote on Twitter: 'Let's find out how live Saturday Night Live really is.'
Sharing a screenshot of the tweet Bowen Yang reacted on his Instagram Stories, with the response 'what the f*** does this even mean'.
Aidy Bryant echoed Yang's concerns and shared a tweet by Bernie Sanders.
The tweet read: 'The 50 wealthiest people in America today own more wealth than the bottom half of our people.
'Let me repeat that, because it is almost too absurd to believe: the 50 wealthiest people in this country own more wealth than some 165 MILLION Americans. That is a moral obscenity. (sic)'
The engineer is the the first non-actor or non-athlete since 2015 to host the comedy sketch show.
And in preparation for the gig, he took to Twitter to ask for ideas for jokes and sketches.
'Throwing out some skit ideas for SNL. What should I do?' Musk asked.
'Irony Man – defeats villains using the power of irony,' Musk Tweeted.
'Baby Shark & Shark Tank merge to form Baby Shark Tank,' was another.
He also suggested 'Woke James Bond'.
Comedian Andrew Dismukes also questioned the decision to hire the businessman.
Andrew referenced the former SNL star Cher-E Oteri, saying: 'Only CEO I wanna do sketch with is Cher-E Oteri.'
A source told The New York Post that cast members would not be forced to appear with Musk if they didn't want to.
'Speaking historically, if a cast member has been that unhappy, they don't have to do it,' a source told on Friday.
They said that Lorne Michaels, the boss of SNL, 'won't ever make them do anything they don't want to do.'
No cast members have pulled out of the show yet, the paper said.
Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday.
The source added: 'Whether you like him or not, Elon is a very interesting character. He's very much a showman.'
As soon as it was announced that Musk would be appearing, fans took to social media to share their outrage about Musk's upcoming appearance.
One wrote: 'Elon Musk hosting SNL is huge for guys still making 'that's what she said' jokes who think they'd be great at hosting SNL (sic)'
Another added: 'There really was nobody else available to host SNL? Elon Musk? Why?'
Musk and Grimes - who started dating in 2018 - welcomed their son in May 2020.
Musk later revealed the pronunciation of their son's name, explaining it's X Ash A Twelve. Æ is a character used in some languages, and is often pronounced 'ash,'.
A-12 represents the aircraft Archangel 12 or as Musk says 'the precursor to the SR-71, coolest plane ever.'
Meanwhile, the businessman recently admitted that his girlfriend Grimes has a 'much bigger role' in parenting their son X.
He said: 'Well, babies are just eating and pooping machines, you know?
'Right now there's not much I can do. Grimes has a much bigger role than me right now. When the kid gets older, there will be more of a role for me.'
