She announced the happy news of her engagement to GB swimmer Jack Burnell earlier this week. 

And Ella Henderson, 26, took to Instagram to give her fans a glimpse into her romantic getaway to Mauritius as her partner got down on one knee. 

The singer uploaded a gallery of snaps as she soaked up the sun during the lavish trip at The Residence Mauritius hotel. 

The former X Factor star looked incredible as she cooled off by taking a swim in a black bikini while hiding behind a chunky pair of dark sunglasses. 

She swept her long naturally waved tresses back with a head scarf as she relaxed during the day. 

Ella also shared a radiant selfie donning a crochet black cover up and a woven chic sun hat. 

The Ghost singer was spotted strolling around the idyllic resort in a blue and pink patterned summer maxi dress in another photo. 

She penned to the post: 'Just touched down from a holiday of dreams & a well needed break!! I came here when I was a teenager & told myself I’d come back one day & bring my family when I’m all grown up & have a career in music! I guess I kept my promise. 

'This place holds a nostalgic place in my heart & I couldn’t think of anywhere better to see in the New Year of 2023!! 

'I love the people (& the animal friends I made) here so much on the island of Mauritius! Everyone spreads so much light & love to one another & I want to bring that energy home with me!!! 

She concluded the caption by hinting at releasing new music later this year, she added: 'To all my fans, my family, my friends… THANK YOU for everything these last few years!!

'It feels so good to be back on my feet again - creating, writing, performing & doing what I love most! I feel totally recharged & rearing to go! 

'Now I can’t wait to get back to it! This years gonna be a big one! Bring on 2023 & new music!!!'   

In the evening, Ella dressed to impress in a stunning white off the shoulder crochet maxi dress as she headed out for dinner. 

The beauty kept the look casual by adding a coordinated pair of sandals and applied a flawless palette of makeup including fluttering lashes and a swipe of lip gloss. 

She penned to a second post: 'Dreamy nights'. 

According to its advertisements, the lavish hotel where Ella stayed is £300 per night for a standard room and overlooks the Indian Ocean. 

Ella announced last Tuesday that her partner Jack had got down on one knee during the trip and she showed off her incredible ring in a series of snaps. 

Putting on a loved-up display with her GB swimmer beau, she penned in the caption: 'So this happened… here's to life with you & all it's adventures @jackrexburnell!

Ella - who met Jack on a dating app in lockdown - looked thrilled in the images as she held her hand up to the camera in the idyllic location.

Another snap showed Jack jumping for joy on the beach with the words 'she said yes!' written in the sand in front of him.

Ella looked radiant in the snaps as she sported a matching hotel robe with Jack and wore her blonde tresses in loose waves.

Another image from her holiday album showed them enjoying a romantic stroll along the beach holding hands - where Ella wore a black bikini and white patterned dress.

In his post Jack shared the same snaps and wrote in his caption: 'SHE SAID YES!!! Can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you…❤️ @official_ellahenderson.'

Ella and Jack first found each other during the Covid lockdown after they linked up on a dating app - after Ella had been through a tough break up and when she had just finished writing her second album.

The Ghost hitmaker has kept her relationship history fairly private but during her time on X Factor did date Union J band member George Shelley.

The couple were spotted walking along a London street clutching hands before they then jetted off to Disneyland Paris together for a weekend in 2012.

Sportsman Jack, who hails from Scunthorpe, won 10km silver at the European Open Water Championships in 2016, a year after securing his spot at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games with a fifth-place finish at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

He won his first World Cup title in Mexico in 2015, before adding a second that year in Hungary.

At the Olympic Games themselves, Jack was on course to claim a medal before being disqualified for two yellow cards.

In 2017, he came agonisingly close to a World Championship medal with a fourth-place finish in Budapest, before winning World Cup gold in Abu Dhabi.
