So close to Coors Field that the stadium lights can cast a glow in ballpark-facing guest rooms on game nights, The Rally Hotel, a new arrival in Denver, is designed for baseball lovers. Subtle nods to Americas National Pastime are woven into the decor, from the leather wall paneling in the lobby stitched with red Xs much like the seams of baseballs to the grass green carpeting in the hallways leading to guest rooms that are numbered in stadium font.
Gameday energy is especially palpable from The Rally Bar, where, steps away from the entrance to Coors Field, you can order Johnny Dogs (generously battered mini corn dogs with a side of housemade cheddar-mustard sauce) and the Rally Up vodka cocktail mixed with lemon and grapefruit. (Butterfly Pea Tea is the magic ingredient that transforms the top layer of this ombré cocktail to a Rockies shade of purple).
The Rally Hotels arrival comes just in time for the MLBs All-Star Game, which will be played at Coors Field on July 13. Originally scheduled to take place in Atlanta, the league relocated the game to Denver in response to Georgias recently passed law that placed additional restrictions on voters, measures that President Joe Biden has described as Jim Crow in the 21st century. Colorado, on the other hand, is known for its voter accessibility: All registered voters have been receiving ballots by mail since 2013.
Now, ahead of baseballs big weekend thats been relocated to Denver, The Rally Hotel is full speed ahead with additions that were slated for the future. An open-to-the-public Rockies Hall of Fame is scheduled to arrive on the second floor of the hotel in 2022, but a sneak peek of it could be ready in time for the All-Star weekend. Already, there are nostalgic mementos on display in the lobby.
The 182-room hotel made its debut this spring and is an anchor in Denvers new McGregor Square, an ambitious 659,000-square-foot development which is owned by the Colorado Rockies and that also includes a condo building, restaurants, stores, and a food hall that are opening in phases. Local bookstore the Tattered Cover will have an outpost here, and the shop has been curating book bundles for the hotels guest rooms. Commanding the large outdoor plaza is a 110-foot LED big screen that plays Rockies home and away games. Toms Watch Bar is scheduled to open later this spring with three TopGolf Swing Suites where simulators let you swing a 7-iron, throw a fastball or play dodgeball with zombies.
For pregame eats, The Original is already open inside the hotel and, this May, added brunch to its lineup. Slide into a lavender booth and order from the inventive menu that includes croughnut slider burgers, everything bagel deviled eggs with slivers of crispy salmon bacon, and boozy milkshakes like one blending bacon-washed bourbon with vanilla ice cream. If youre a local, pay special attention to the two-toned Terrazzo floors paved to mimic the South Platte Rivers route through Denver.
As for amenities, The Rally Hotel is 13 stories high (build it any taller and youd be able to peer into Coors Field from the rooftop), and it has a plunge pool and hot tub on the rooftop and a gym with floor-to-ceiling windows to show off city views while you log a sweat session. Sunscreen wipes in guest bathrooms are a reminder to lather up before heading out in this sunny city.
The Rally Hotel also throws a fun design curveball on the eighth floor. With an elevation of 5,280 feet, Denver is nicknamed the Mile High City. In Coors Field, a ring of purple stadium seats serve as a mile high marker. The hotel went a similar route and designated its mile-high floor with moody purple rooms.
As for the name, The Rally Hotel? It borrows from an age-old baseball superstition, the rally cap, where fans turn their caps backwards or inside out to help their team pull off a come-from-behind victory. Well-played!
