MLB Outfielder Breaks Down The 15 Best Breakfast Spots He Visited During The Season

The MLB Playoffs kick off on Tuesday and the Oakland Athletics will be noticeably absent as they finished the 2023 season with a dismal 50-112 record for a .309 wining percentage. One silver lining on the season, at least for Oakland A’s outfielder Brent Rooker, was tracking all of the best breakfast spots in the US.

With the A’s season over, Brent Rooker shared his list of the best breakfast spots in America and what he ate at each of them. It started with a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), with Rooker saying “One of my favorite parts of the season is getting to travel to all the different cities and try out new breakfast places in the mornings.”

He added “Now that the season is complete, here is a list of some of my favorite breakfasts that I ate this year” and even joked that “absolutely nobody asked for this.” Keep in mind that going out to dinner at restaurants is a luxury rarely afforded to MLB players as they’re often either playing or traveling during dinnertime. So breakfast is where they can really seek out the best options around the US.

He doesn’t specify if they are in order, so let’s assume they’re not and these are just the 15 best.

•Autumn Omelette – Blue Moon Cafe (Baltimore, MD) •Wagyu LocoMoco – Neptunes (Alameda, CA) •Brisket Hash – Classic Cup Cafe (Kansas City, MO) •Twice Baked Breakfast Potatoes – Pfister Hotel (Milwaukee, WI) •Bacon Fried Rice + Banana Cold Brew – Toast (Birmingham, MI) •Lamb Hash + Morning Bread – Tatte (Boston, MA) •Smoked Salmon Omelette – The Hart and The Hunter (Seattle, WA) •Bulgogi Scramble + Millionaires Bacon – Berkeley Social Club (Berkeley, CA) •French Onion Soup Breakfast Sandwich – Del Friscos (Cherry Creek, Denver, CO) •Fried Egg Sandwich + Banana Pancakes – The Farm (Beverly Hills, CA) •Boujee Breakfast Sandwich – Simply Delicious (St. Louis, MO) •Spicy Chicken Tinga Breakfast Tacos – Beatrix (Chicago, IL) •Lobster Toast – Brass Tack (Chicago, IL) •Blackstone Benedict – Flo’s Diner (Yorkville, Toronto, ON, CA) •Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich on Croissant – Baccos Cafe (Seattle, WA)

Suffice it to say that zero contextual information is needed on some of these to know they’d be fantastic. Having no clue what the ‘Wagyu LocoMoco’ is in Alameda I still know I want it for breakfast right now. But, I looked it up to see and it is “2 smash patties, sunny egg, garlic fried rice, brekkie sauce, radish, micro greens.”

When someone asked Brent Rooker about Pittsburgh being left off the list, he replied on X saying “There’s a decent chance I was just too lazy to leave the room and ordered room service that series haha.”

After being asked about other cities and the best breakfast options, he added even more context. Rooker said “Guys if I didn’t list your city it is not a personal attack on the food scene there. It probably just means that I was too lazy to leave the room that series and ordered room service.”

Rooker is now a free agent after 1 season with Oakland (earned $750K). It remains to be seen where he’ll be seeking out the best breakfasts next season.
