Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell recently announced that he does expect running back Kam Davis to get touches as a true freshman despite a loaded backfield in Tallahassee. The 18-year-old ball-carrier is a monstrous human being.
His presence on the Seminoles’ roster creates a nightmarish situation for opposing defenses.
Davis is likely going to be the third or fourth-string running back. Seniors Roydell Williams, Lawrance Toafili and Caziah Holmes are going to get the majority of carries. Redshirt freshman Sam Singleton earned his opportunity to make an impact during the early portion fall camp. True freshman speedster Micahi Danzy has also been impressive during the summer.
And then there’s Davis, a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024.
The Georgia-native committed to Florida State way back in 2021. He stuck with Norvell despite pushes from Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and 17 others. It was a big get— quite literally.
Davis is listed on the roster at 5-foot-10, 224 pounds!
If you didn’t know that he is only 18 years old, you would never think he is only 18 years old. His freshman teammates look minuscule in comparison.
There was some initial speculation that Davis might redshirt because the running back room is so loaded with elite talent. Norvell recently put that idea to bed. He’s too powerful not to get on the field.
This is great news for the Seminoles and bad news for the ACC. Williams, Toafili, Holmes, Singleton and Danzy are going to wear college football teams down. And then, once the defenses are already exhausted, they are going to have to try and stop this guy on fresh legs:
Gooooooooooooooooooooood luck!
If he doesn’t run you over, Kam Davis will put you in a blender. He is more than just strong!
Davis often gets compared to Frank Gore and it’s not hard to see why!
Even though they look nearly identical, there is one major difference between them. Gore is 41 years old. Davis is a giant 18-year-old.
If not this year, Kam Davis is going to be a key factor in Florida State’s success for years to come. Bringing him to the ground presents quite the challenge!
